Preparation for pyeloplasty for ureteropelvic junction obstruction using a patient-specific laparoscopic simulator: a case report

UNLABELLED INTRODUCTION Training systems for laparoscopic surgery are useful for basic training but are not suitable for specific training corresponding to the condition of a given patient. We, therefore, have developed an unusual training system: a patient-specific simulator for laparoscopic surgery. When specific data of each individual patient are entered, this system helps surgeons perfo...

Randomized trial to examine procedure-to-procedure transfer in laparoscopic simulator training.

BACKGROUND Laparoscopic simulation has become a standard component of surgical training, but there is limited knowledge regarding skills transfer between procedural tasks. The objective was to investigate the specificity of procedural simulator training. METHODS This was randomized single-centre educational superiority trial. Surgical novices practised basic skills on a laparoscopic virtual r...

A framework for laparoscopic simulations.

Due to their numerous advantages, laparoscopic surgical procedures are increasingly becoming common in the operation theatres over the past few decades. Virtual reality training simulators have played a significant role during this transition from traditional to laparoscopic procedures by enhancing surgical skills, such as hand-eye coordination in laparoscopy, and practising surgical scenarios ...
